These days, it seems like almost everyone has clothes they no longer wear that they want to donate to charity, but donating clothes can be tricky to figure out on your own. What paperwork should you have ready when the charities come by? The answers to the question; how to donate clothes through clothing donation pickups in Denver, Colorado.

Learn How to Get Tax Benefits When Donating Clothes

As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, most donations made are eligible for tax deductions. In fact, under IRS rules, individuals can deduct from their taxes up to 50% of their adjusted gross income (AGI). This can be a substantial amount depending on your income and how much you donate! There are plenty of ways that you can claim tax deductions when donating clothes and other items.

Psst… It Doesn’t Cost Anything to Donate Clothes!

You might be thinking, Why donate clothes? I just need a quick way to get rid of my stuff. Well, there is nothing wrong with tossing your old threads (responsibly!) and buying new ones, but donating allows you to give your belongings a second life—while also helping other people. That’s right—donating clothing keeps clothes out of landfills and puts them on people who can use them. It’s a win-win!

What Clothing Can I Donate?

When it comes to what types of clothing you can donate, it’s a pretty open book. Most donation centers will accept clothes, shoes, and accessories as long as they’re in fairly good condition. They might not be able to accept ripped or torn items unless they can be fixed by volunteers.
